About us

Katerina

We feel happy to have our son in Montessori preschool the last two years. The experienced teachers helped our child to learn English language, behaviour, to express his feelings, to work as a member of a team. They helped him to feel acceptable, to be more confident in an open clean, safe and friendly environment.

Facility establishment
The Bilingual Primary School “English Montessori School” and Bilingual Preschool English Montessori School were established in 2014 out of the needs of the hearts of two mothers. We had preschool and school children and we wanted them to experience education that would develop their innate potential. We wanted children to mature in an environment that would allow them to get to know themselves. The Montessori method was and is our passion. As one of us is British, the decision to be bilingual was also natural for us.

The size of the facility and the levels of education children

Bilingual Preschool and Bilingual Primary School “English Montessori School” are located in the south-western part of Katowice called Brynów. The location of the facility near the highway is not accidental as many of our pupils commute from far away. For this reason, we wanted easy communication with various districts of Katowice and neighboring cities. At the same time, the access to the center of Katowice, museums, cinemas, theaters, etc. takes only 10 minutes by public transport.

In the vicinity of the school there is also the Wujek coal mine, important for the history of Poland and Katowice, as well as extensive green areas – e.g. park Tadeusz Kościuszko with playgrounds, a mini zoo and a 16th-century wooden church. The building in which the school and preschool are located include two tree-covered “gardens”. The premises of the facility are currently 952 m2 of recently renovated space, arranged in harmonious, bright colors that are conducive to the well-being and education of children.

In the preschool we have two fully equipped preschool wards, each with its own bathroom. At school, we currently offer education for children in two departments for grades 1-3, one department for grade 1, two department for grade 4, one department for grades 5-6 and grades 7-8. Each classroom is equipped with a kitchenette. and the classrooms where older children learn, additionally with a dishwasher.

In addition to stationary education, children who are educated at home are enrolled in our school. They take subject exams at EMS and can participate in many interesting workshops.

In total, 168 children attend English Montessori School in 2023.

What we specialize in
Bilingualism used in our institution means that children do not only learn English, but are also immersed in it and experience it in real life situations, which gives excellent results in learning a foreign language.

Our strengths
We have created an atmosphere of respect and security
– We nurture children’s interests
– We create a community and care about relationships
– We take the trouble to find a child’s natural potential
– We believe that parents, child and preschool/school are inseparable links
– We respect the child’s choices
– We provide daily, many hours of contact with an English-speaking native speaker
– Outdoor play and healthy food are very important to us
– Children feel safe at home with us

Plans for the future
In the future, we plan to develop by opening more school groups, as well as to improve our curriculum.

Teachers

Most of our Polish teachers have completed the Montessori methodology courses conducted by the Polish Montessori Institute or are in the course of the course (www.montessori.info.pl). These courses are detailed and demanding training consisting of 317 hours of classes. The course consists of training sessions, seminars and workshops on various theoretical and practical issues (now some courses are also online). Students must also pass a series of practical methodology exams in order to qualify for the final exam and, upon passing it, receive a Montessori teacher diploma.

In addition, we are constantly training at various International Conferences, training organized, among others by the Board of Education in Katowice and organized internally by us.

We cannot thank you enough for all of your support during our time at EMS. Your school is truly a wonderful place where children can learn and grow. We will miss you all very much, and our experience with EMS will remain a bright memory from our short time in Poland.

All our gratitude,
Amy
