Dance is the hidden language of the soul – Martha Graham
Dancing is about the individual finding a way to express the emotions that are within, finding themselves as well as working as a part of a team. It is not only a fun way to exercise and have a good time with friends but also dancing improves co-ordination, stamina, balance and focus.
It strengthens and improves body and mind, refines cognitive skills, flexibility, relieves stress and is mood boosting. Becoming more committed to oneself and others where the confidence will flourish.
I started dancing when I was around four years old and have been attending classes on and off. In 2008 in my home town, Iceland a new dance school opened and from there I grew to enjoy the diversity of dance, overcoming stagefright because of the togetherness and support from my dance group. In 2014 I moved to London and a few years later I found a London based school where the main focus was K-pop. During my time there I truly found my passion for dancing, I found myself. I have performed on stage various times and filmed dance music videos around London.
I started dancing at the age of ten, it all began when I was watching a dance group perform, and I said to myself I want to have fun and move like those people on TV. Ever since I’ve been dancing, it’s been a way to express myself, interact with new people, learn and to stay fit. Dance has done so much for me and I would like to share it with other people, it might help them the same way it did for me or in ways I could not even imagine.
